Nonprofit offers Discounted Laptops and Tablets to Students

Don't get discouraged if the right college for you doesn't offer a laptop program. There are still options to satisfy your college computing needs while staying within your budget. One of our preferred options comes from Notebooksforstudents.org (NFS).  NFS is a nonprofit organization that helps students purchase laptops at greatly reduced prices.

Notebooks For Students started when two college students, David Puzo and Raymond Issaghollian, were tired of trying to find an affordable way to complete their schoolwork on a computer. They met with large computer manufactures and refurbishment labs to negotiate discounted rates for students with a valid student ID.

The main requirement for receiving a computer is that it must be for a student. College, high school, trade school, and even home schooled students qualify for the program.

NFS offers new, factory certified, and NFS certified off-lease computers from some of the top brands, such as Apple, HP, Lenovo, Toshiiba, and Dell. Tablets and iPads are also available. Basic laptop packages start at just $225 and laptop packages start at $135.

NFS laptops come preinstalled with software helpful to students including, Open Office, Picasa, AVG Anit-virus, Gimp, and PhotoPlus.
